Texas EV’s Border-to-Border EV Road Trip

Summer heat is fading away and Texas EV Alliance and Texas EV Education Project are hitting the road in electric vehicles again. This time, it’s to shoot a road trip movie set in Texas, ala “Fandango,” Kevin’s Costner’s first starring role about a road trip in Texas. It’ll be a week-long trip

We’ll head to Shreveport, Louisiana the night (October 21st) before and will enter Texas at Waskom on I-20. We’ll continue along I-20 to where it meets I-10 west of Balmorhea. From there, we’ll continue down into Big Bend Country, where there are very few EV charging facilities.

The loop around Big Bend Ranch State Park is 233 miles. The only town along that route with DC fast charging is Alpine. General Motors is loaning us a Silverado EV and and Equinox EV. Both vehicles should have no problem getting around Big Bend.

Stay tuned to our social media and if you’re along the route and have the time, we’d love to meet you at one of our stops.

About the author

An accidental EVangelist: On my way to work at Apple one morning, my car was rear-ended (and totaled) by an SUV, driven by a guy playing with his smartphone.
This led me to get my first plug-in vehicle.
I started blogging about my experiences immediately.
A year later, in 2013, I was hired by the dealership as their "EVangelist."
I became a board member with the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance (www.TxETRA.org) and perform public speaking in the DFW area regarding electric vehicles and environmental issues.
I also teach others how to sell plug-in vehicles or manage EV sales.
I'm on a mission.
